A Sunday in the Nations Capital - Washington D.C.
A Sunday in the Nations Capital - Washington D.C.

Hey, friends! I wanted to share all about my little day trip to Washington D.C.

When I was in college, I interned in D.C. for a semester as a communications and policies intern. It was an incredible experience being able to work on Capitol Hill by day and be a college student by night. As I am writing this, I realize that my first written articles were published during my time in D.C. It's funny how life comes full circle!

My first stop - Union Market

Fast forward a couple of years later, and my former college roommate and I have made a yearly visit back to the city. We started our trip with a metro ride from the New Carrollton Metro Station to Union Station. We took a short walk up to Union Market and we picked a restaurant inside for brunch. This place was hands down, so yummy. Union Market is a MUST if you are visiting the city.  There are so many little places inside to eat, drink, and shop. You can seriously spend a few hours of your day there and not run out of things to do.

D.C. Holiday Market

After brunch, we ventured downtown to the annual holiday market. Being a small business owner, I was so excited to check out all of the vendors and see what other people are selling. It was one of the largest vendor events I have ever attended, and everything was decorated for Christmas.

Sights

To wrap up our day, we of course made our rounds across center city. Passing by the White House, the Capitol, Washing Monument, and a few other historical buildings and landmarks. Looking at all the buildings alone is enough to keep you busy!

We ended our day a little short because it was SO cold and windy. But if you are local enough to make a day trip to the city, there are endless things to do. I am hoping to go back soon in the spring when the weather is warm!

 Xoxo - Morganne
